Audrey Riffenburgh, M.A.

Audrey Riffenburgh, M.A., is president of Riffenburgh & Associates, a consulting and training firm offering services in plain language and health literacy. Based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the firm has served clients across the U.S. and Canada since 1994.

Her firm specializes in conducting customized presentations; analyzing materials for suitability; developing reader-friendly materials in print and for the web; in-depth training/coaching in materials development; and editing existing documents.

Riffenburgh & Associates co-sponsors the nationally-recognized Health Literacy Institute and Audrey has been on the Institute faculty since 1999.

Clients include government agencies such as FDA, CMS, and NCI; non-profits such as National Health Council and World Headache Alliance in Canada; voluntary health organizations; corporations such as Pfizer; health care providers; hospital systems; Native American tribes; public health educators; universities; and publishers.

Audrey's M.A. is in adult education. Her experience in adult literacy spans more than a decade at the local, state, and national levels. Audrey is active in efforts to implement plain language standards worldwide and serves on the Steering Committee of the Plain Language Association International. She served as a reviewer for the AMA’s textbook on health literacy. She was awarded five Pfizer Health Literacy Visiting Lecturer grants.
