Jann
Keenan, Ed.S.
As an Instructional Designer and Public Health Educator
since 1981, Jann Keenan, Ed.S., has used her expertise
to create award-winning health education materials,
design nationally and internationally recognized health
promotion campaigns, and offer lively workshops on
health literacy and culture. She was part of a team
recently awarded the government's Blue Pencil Award
for outstanding plain language writing. Jann is best
known for her innovative multi-media health initiatives
for people with limited-reading skills. In 1995, Jann
founded the Keenan Group, Inc., a health communications
firm of seasoned professionals with experience in public
health, adult education, social marketing, graphic
design, and videography.
Clients include the National Institutes of Health,
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Harvard
University, Johns Hopkins University, Proctor & Gamble,
The National Emergency Medicine Association, The Department
of Health and Human Services, The National Library
Association, and The American Cancer Society. A respected
public speaker, Jann was invited to present at the
Food and Drug Administration(FDA) Special Hearings
on label readability. The FDA accepted the list of
Interchangeable Terms she and her colleagues developed
for use on over-the-counter drug labels nationwide.
